FEELING HEADY?
14th October
Feeling heady? I know I’m beginning to with 4 successive weeks at Nº 1 in the ratings and with over 20 million viewers!!! That’s more or less half the population in the Spanish State!!! So this figure is no chicken feed not by a long chalk.
The question is, do we break out the bubbly now or wait until the end of the season? I’m thinking it might be a good idea to wait until the end of the season, otherwise we’re going to end up paralytic with so much alcohol celebrating on a weekly basis 🙂
It seems the poll I put up yesterday hit the nail on the head, with regards to odds – most of you voted that becoming Nº 1 again this week was a doddle.
Then in a couple of weeks we have the release of Volume 2 of the NCIS Official Soundtrack, coinciding with the return of Muse Watson as Mike Franks, in an interesting episode where we’ll be seeing the inside of Gibbs’ house .
So there’s a still a lot to look forward to, now we just need the powers that be regarding the Emmy Awards and at least nominate the series in all categories.
Y con esto y un bizcocho se acabó lo que se dió.

7.03 THE INSIDE MAN
13th October 2009
Written by George Schenck and Frank Cardea, “The Inside Man” continues season 7’s fantastic episodes.
Loaded with excellent lines, observations and in-jokes, “The Inside Man” is a worthy inclusion in the NCIS canon.
The scenes between Gibbs and the irritating Metro detective were excellent. Very much a pissing contest going on there. Not too sure who won, but as NCIS gave Metro their murder virtually gift wrapped, I would say that, on balance, Gibbs won.
Several small things caught my eye. Ziva called Ducky “Duck”. In “Internal Affairs” Ducky was quite firm on the point that only Gibbs is allowed to call him that. When did that change?
The “tugging on Superman’s cape” line about the detective annoying Gibbs was a nice little joke at Mark Harmon’s expense. I am sure by now everyone is aware that Mark has provided the voice for Superman in the upcoming animated movie “Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths”.
Another nice little in joke is McGee running over the cars in the impound lot. Mark Harmon fans will remember a similar scene of Jay Austin running over cars in “The Presidio”.
Two new nicknames for McGee as well. McQueen and McSniper.
Anyone else notice that Tony was channeling Leon Vance? In the deli talking to Sutton, Tony is chewing on a toothpick! But not long after he is back to the old Tony. Tormenting a hungry McGee by devouring a pastrami sandwich in front of him. Earning him the heartfelt comment from McGee of “I hope it chokes you.”
With Vance away it was obvious that Gibbs was in charge again. He is once again in direct contact with SecNav over a case. Gibbs: SecNav is all over us to clean this mess up.
The securities guy Benjamin Franklin gave rise to some small amusement. Giving Tony the opportunity to deliver one of the real Benjamin Franklin’s famous aphorisms “A penny saved is a penny earned”.
Several good lines had me giggling:
Ziva: That is total salami.
Tony: Boloney.
Ducky: I would like to have a chat with the people who write these instruction manuals, but I don’t think we have a language in common.
I do have one small bone to pick, however. When are we getting new credits?

7.04 GOOD COP, BAD COP
13th October
Interesting title for tonight’s episode, yet so highly appropriate for a crime series. Who hasn’t seen a scene in a police series or film where 2 of the constables/officers/agents involved decide one will play bad cop to the other’s good cop to get info? This is a real classic, and a title, which has perhaps been missing, although we’ve seen examples of this on several NCIS episodes. Now the question here is, will it be a Tony+Gibbs hand to hand or a Tony+McGee hand to hand, or perhaps even Gibbs+Vance. However, if it’s the latter two, we’re going to be pushed as to which one is the good cop, because if ever there were a formidable pair together it’s these two, I’d hate to be a suspect with these two interrogating, gives you the willies just thinking about it. Most of us would probably start spilling the beans as soon as they came into the room, they wouldn’t even have to ask, mind you that would probably brown them off no end. After all these two like a bit of a challenge, to see if the poor suspect will wet their pants or not when they bring out the artillery.
Mind you a bad cop Tony to a good cop McGee wouldn’t exactly be pleasant either, probably because you wouldn’t see the fin of the barracuda heading towards you full speed ahead. *Shudders*
I haven’t mentioned Ziva in any combination yet, since her position is still precarious, however, considering her ‘Mossad ninja skills’ and what she can supposedly do with a paper clip -yikes!!! Doesn’t bear thinking about either.
Looking at all these possibilities it might just be an idea to stay on the right side of the law with these individuals on the prowl for baddies to feast on…
So, changing the subject to more pleasant themes, will NCIS remain Nº 1for the 4th week in a row?! I’d certainly like to think so. Make sure you have a pew in front of the box this evening, landline switched to answerphone and mobile in silent mode, and maybe hang a ‘Do Not Disturb’ notice on the door, so your neighbour doesn’t both you, unless it’s to come and watch the episode with you, that is.
Y con esto y un bizcocho se acabó lo que se dió.

DUCKY AND JORDAN – A GOOD MATCH?
12th October 2009
We met Dr Jordan Hampton in the season 5 episode “Identity Crisis”. She is the Maryland M.E. who missed a murder. Ducky goes to give her a piece of his mind (with Gibbs tagging along to prevent things getting out of hand). Ducky is instantly smitten, much to Gibbs’ amusement.
She is mentioned again in “Internal Affairs” by Ducky who gets Rene Benoit’s autopsy report from her.
Then she drops off our radar. But not off Ducky’s. In season 6’s “Broken Bird” she is back. Much to Gibbs’ amazement. It is obvious when he goes to Ducky’s home and discovers Jordan there, that Ducky hasn’t mentioned the fact he now has a girlfriend.
But are Ducky and Jordan a good match? I think they are. They share the same profession, but both also have the same inquiring mindset. It is Jordan in “Identity Crisis” who helps discover the dead man’s identity. By excising his tattoo and reversing it so they can see the original tattoo underneath.
She is also able to help heal the anguish Ducky feels in “Broken Bird” when the realization hits him that he was the target of the CIA’s torture. That the young men being brutalized were being done so, not to break them, but to break him. The scene with Jordan holding a distressed Ducky in the autopsy room is a powerful one. It also shows how much Ducky cares for Jordan. We only ever show our inner pain to those we care about. To everyone else we present a facade.
A few fans have voiced a concern that Jordan is quite a bit younger than Ducky. In reply to that, I will quote one Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Ducky is older, not dead.
